College Bootcamp for Parents

Does the idea of the college search throw you into a panic? You’re not alone!

Create a stress-free DIY approach to making the college search work for your family.

You’ve got this!

  • Become a trained advocate for your student; learn to recognize the signs of an interest to pursue, why passions don’t matter, and how to find the very best fit for your student.

  • Year-long support that follows you through the process and meets you where you are, at a fraction of the cost of using a private consultant (average price $3,500!).

  • Build a comprehensive schedule for what to do when, so you know you’re using your time wisely. You’ll even create a plan for which items require nagging and which do not!

  • Stop worrying about whether deadlines are being missed.

  • Pave the way for an enjoyable junior and senior year without those stressful dinnertime conversations, and actually enjoy your family time together before those kids head off to campus.

Sound good? So maybe College Bootcamp for Parents is for you.

About me:

DSC_0850+%281%29.jpg

I’m Maria Capp, a certified ICF coach with 8 years of experience in the college selection process. I am dedicated to helping families navigate the college experience, and I also work as Operations Manager at an academic fine arts center. I’m joined by my sister Alissa Norton, mother of two college bound kids and also a certified coach, who consults on all of the programming and will make a guest appearance or two.

A little about my kids: My oldest found her ideal college (even if she didn’t think so at the time) and is now supporting herself in the Real World. My middle child is finishing at the college he had his eye on from the start. My youngest, a sophomore in high school, is about to embark on the search (hold on!)

What You’ll Get:

  • Six 1-hour group sessions to kick off the academic year. If you can’t attend the session in person, use the recorded sessions to review whenever you like.

I wish I had this program as an option when I was planning college with my first child . . . I spent a lot of time worrying about whether what I was doing was the right thing, and not enough time enjoying my kid while he was home.
— Chris, parent of thriving college sophomore
  • Options include one-on-one personal sessions with you and/or your student for confidential coaching to address specific issues. Additional coaching is available.

  • Monthly newsletters during the school year with reminders and time-sensitive information, based on where you are in the process and what’s coming up.

  • Membership in a closed Facebook group to share challenges and successes with other parents going through the same thing you are, and even some who have already done what you’re about to do.

What We’re Not About

  • Guarantees about getting your student into any college, legal or otherwise. We are here to help you be an advocate for your student and help find the best school for them, not the “best school.”

  • Finance. We are not experts in how to pay for college, and that’s private. We’ll give you some things to look out for and strategies that worked for us, but we suggest you consult a financial advisor.

  • A platform for the sole purpose of bragging freely about your student’s achievements and which “prestigious” school he/she got into. Leave that for public Facebook posts or for your neighbors; we are a place where you can be unsure, ask questions, and honor the possibly nontraditional choices that make a difference in the lives of your students.

When you enroll, you will also get the Warmup Series; regular email to introduce you to concepts and give you some things to think about before September.
